Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets are now officially part of the NA LCS

North America’s League of Legends Championship Series welcomes teams straight from the National Basketball Association.

The much talked about entry of NBA teams to the NA LCS has been officially confirmed earlier today as Riot Games finally releases the official list of teams that will be part of the tournament next season. Implementing the new Franchising model, the NA LCS welcomes new players for the tournament, although it did also sacrifice a few known names.

But perhaps the most interesting part of the next season of the NA LCS is of course the fact that popular NBA franchises, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets. The Cleveland Cavaliers NA LCS team will go under the handle of 100 Thieves, whereas Golden State Warriors’ League of Legends pro team will be called the Golden Guardians. Given that both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors have had a history of rivalry in the NBA for quite some time now, perhaps we can expect the same amount of rivalry from their Esports stables as they battle in the Summoner’s Rift. The Houston Rockets on the other hand will have their team called Clutch Gaming and is reported to have produced “one of the largest scouting systems of any NA LCS team” in their quest to find players that will fit their roster.

The 2018 Season of the NA LCS is expected to kick-off late January of 2018. Together with 100 Thieves, Golden Guardians and Clutch Gaming, the other NA LCS participants will include of known names, Team SoloMidCloud9Team Liquid, and Counter Logic Gaming, and as well as teams Optic GamingEcho Fox, and FlyQuest.
